Recognize stroke with this easy test.

It can be difficult to recognize when someone is having a stroke. But it's important to get medical attention as quickly as possible. Every minute that ticks by can result in devastating consequences. If you suspect a person may be having a stroke, do these three things:

1. ask the person to smile

2. ask him or her to raise both arms

3. ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 911 and request emergency medical assistance. The inability to accomplish these simple activities could signal interrupted blood flow to the parts of the brain that control facial movement, the movement of the arms, and the center for speech.
